Three small stoneware bottles, each one a little different — because that's what happens when things are made by hand. Kirsti Hannah Brown built and glazed each one individually, dipping them in a dry turquoise glaze from two directions so the colour deepens where the layers overlap. The largest is around 5cm across and 5cm tall, so these really are tiny things.
They're not precious in the way that makes you afraid to touch them. Quite the opposite — they're satisfying to pick up, and the tool marks left during making give them an honest, unhurried quality. Something between ancient and contemporary.
Use them as bud vases, incense stick holders, or just leave them grouped on a shelf. They're the kind of objects that quietly earn their place.
Part of Kirsti's Overlapped collection.
